Grace has been good for me

By The Rev. Katheryn King

Katheryn KingMore than a few years ago now, Roy Oswald wrote a document about leaving a parish ministry called “Running Through the Thistles.” The point being, there may be pain involved in closing out one’s life in a particular place and time. That would be Grace Episcopal Church in Traverse City for me.

Grace has been very good for me.  I am so grateful to have been able to learn something new, especially the rich worship traditions of the Episcopal Church.

Traverse City has been very good, as well.  The blessing of the beautiful bay, new every day, is not in anyway taken for granted by me.

But most of all, I thank God for the people, sisters and brothers in Christ at Grace! I know I will miss mightily the sharing of giving and receiving light and love.

I move on looking forward to at least “3R’s” of retirement: Rest, Reflection and Re-Creation.  May we all remember we are blessed to be a blessing.

We have temporarily suspended all in-person gatherings for worship, along with all in-person events not related to our vital outreach ministries. We look forward to returning to joyful worship together. Please check back for announcement of dates. Full letter from Father Jim here.

During this period, we will offer the opportunity to engage in prayer, worship, and discipleship via Facebook Live.

To ensure continuity for the church and our vital ministries to our community, please consider online giving in lieu of your plate offerings.

Stay tuned and stay safe. 🙏🏻❤️
