Middle school (grades 6-8)
Grace Church’s Middle School group (the “Middlers”) meet every Sunday beginning at 9:45 downstairs in the youth room. Our rotating teachers, all of whom are certified in Safeguarding God’s Children, begin with conversation and snacks and then transition to a lesson from Lesson Plans That Work. Each lesson is published by the Episcopal Church and follows the Revised Common Lectionary. Lively discussion and activities reflect the curiosity, growing maturity, and deeper understanding of themselves and the Bible that Middle Schoolers are known for.
High school (grades 9-12)
The high school group is open to anyone in grades 9-12 and has as its focus the exploration of what it means to be a follower of Jesus in a complex world.
The high schoolers meet after the 10:00 am service. In addition to a curriculum that sparks discussion of “Christian understanding vs. cultural thinking,” this group prepares for Confirmation, explores church history, and has opportunities to learn about philanthropy by participating in St. Nicholas’ Guild. The high school youth group also gives input into the destinations of its retreats and mission trips.
Knowing that being in community is a longstanding Christian path toward God, it’s our goal in our high school program to deepen the connections between Grace’s young people and the mentors around them.
