This year, in cooperation with Safe Harbor, Central UMC, and other partners we have been able to provide shelter around-the-clock for the unhoused Children of God in our midst during the coldest half of the year. This is something to be proud of, but the rest of the year, our unhoused population must still sleep on the streets or in the woods.
Safe Harbor is a seasonal overnight shelter, and must close down during the spring and summer months. This creates a difficult and anxious time for our unhoused population who must transition to living outdoors once more. Without housing in which to store their possesions, our friends must somehow assemble all the things they need to live outside every year.
To equip our sisters and brothers, Jubilee House is in need of the following items as we move into spring and prepare for Safe Harbor to close for the season:
- blankets and sleeping bags
- tarps
- rain gear (coats/pants, ponchos, umbrellas)
- waterproofing spray for tents
- tennis shoes
- sunglasses
- belts
- lightweight jackets
Donations can be brought to Jubilee House from 10-5 Mon-Fri, or left in the collection box in the church coat room.
